About the Senior Rider Representative

Michelle Cruikshanks

Since a very humble beginning in Mounted Games in 2000, my family and I have learned much and been actively involved in a variety of roles in support of Mounted Games both locally and internationally. Over the course of the past several years as a member of EMGC, MGAA, and NZMGA, I have enjoyed participating in numerous competitions and have, I believe, demonstrated a passion for the sport of Mounted Games along with a strong commitment to rider development, horsemanship and fair-mindedness. In my capacity as rider, and with experience as a pony trainer, coach, official and clinician, I enjoy a "big picture" view of the sport and have found this useful in working with other riders, officials and behind the scenes as a competition organizer and committee member. The benefits of experiences at the International level first supporting my own children as they progressed through various levels of the sport and more recently as a "Veteran" rider and U17 Coach, have served to deepen my understanding and appreciation of this sport across a wide range of skill levels. My background as an educator, Pony Club mom, and international coach and rider, has provided me with the communication tools and interpersonal skills to work with a variety of people in furthering the sport of Mounted Games. Having retired from my position as an elementary school Principal close to two years ago, I am enjoying the time to more deeply pursue my interest in Mounted Games both here at home, across the border, and abroad.
